Listen up, muggles — Brisbane will play host to a market devoted entirely to Harry Potter this weekend.
Paddington’s Pastel Palace, a ‘kawaii’ boutique that bills itself as a little slice of Harajuku in Brisbane, is preparing to host an Evening at Hogwarts this Saturday.
You’ll be able to collect all the necessary equipment you’ll need for the start of term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, or just a few things to spruce up your boring old Muggle house, including Potter-inspired art, candles, soaps and accessories, as well as merch and memorabilia from the movies. You might even find a Horcrux or two.
There’ll also be a costume competition and magical trivia, so you better know your Philosopher’s Stone from your Goblet of Fire.
Magical merchants at this pop-up Diagon Alley will include Pastel Pixie, Kareki Art, Bonnie’s Bathouse, Enchanted Light and Ruby Kawaii. Most vendors will have credit card facilities, but it might not be a bad idea to bring a few Galleons just in case.
The market will take place at the BrisWest Centre Paddington (132 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington) this Saturday 26 March from 1:30pm to 7pm. Entry is free, so just turn up and have fun!
Mischief managed.

It looks amazing and I can’t wait!! But I’ve been in the line for an hour now, and it’s stretching down streets and I haven’t moved more than three meters. Be prepared for wait.
This event was clearly very poorly planned with no regard for the children waiting for 3hrs to get in without any communication from the organizers & then to be told by a very rude policeman to go home. It was a 30° day, my kids caught public transportation there & back, wasting a whole day & now very uset, disappointed, tired & sunburnt with nothing to show for it!! Soooo disappointing!!!
I totally agree with Lee-Renee. After dropping off 4 children (2 were mine) to this event, they too were waiting in the unforgiving sun for almost 4 hours. My niece was dressed in a Harry Potter costume – black overcoat and all. If she had’ve known it would be so disorganised, I’m sure she wouldn’t have worn it, but wearing Harry Potter costumes was encouraged by the organisers. Unfortunately, she became quite ill and almost fainted in the line. The huge line of people to the hall moved so slowly, and they didn’t even manage to move out of the side street (Ellena Street) to Latrobe Tce!! At least she didn’t get sunburnt – can’t say the same for the other 3. There was no offer of water, sunscreen or anything else for the loyal fans waiting in the queue in the hot sun. I don’t understand why an event, as popular as Harry Potter, would possibly be held in such a tiny location. Absolutely disappointing.
