Prepare yourself for three weeks of contemporary music, arts, dance, theatre and performance by the beach.

This year, Bleach* will transform the Glitter Strip, pushing physical, creative and logistical boundaries. With a rich five year history, this year is set to be the festival’s most audacious yet.

Local, national and international artists will perform eight world premieres and an impressive event line-up over three jam-packed weekends.

The festival’s artistic director, Louise Bezzina, says the 2016 Bleach* Festival will aim to challenge perceptions that define art and its performance.

“The Gold Coast’s natural environment and some of its best known landscapes will have ‘starring roles’ in many of the 2016 festival’s events.

“Beaches, parks and waterways become unconventional outdoor stages for performances and expressions of music, contemporary circus, theatre, dance and visual arts.

“Just one of the highlights will be a spectacular contemporary ballet and music performance on a floating stage on one of the Gold Coast’s most beautiful and pristine waterways,” says Bezzina.

Fans of Australian Music will be excited to learn Aria-award winning artist Ben Lee has accepted an invitation to be Bleach* Festival’s feature artist for 2016.

Ben will even be heading song-writing workshops for young up-and-comers and performing in a free outdoor concert on the beaches of Burleigh Heads.

All in all, there are over 50 events scheduled for Bleach* Festival this year including never-before-seen theatre, inspiring art installations and interactive activities for the kids.

If you live and breathe live music, arts and culture, this is one festival not to be missed in 2016. Bleach* Festival runs from 4-20 March at various locations around the Gold Coast — for the full program and ticketing information, visit the Bleach* Festival website.
