Wave a fond farewell to 2015 by celebrating at one of the city’s best locations – South Bank.
The traditional New Year’s Eve hot spot is gearing up to ring in the New Year – family friendly style!
South Bank Parklands will welcome families and revellers from as early as 12.30pm in the Cultural Forecourt, with food vendors, free family-friendly movie screenings and photo opportunities at the BRISBANE sign.
Tag your Instagram shots with #NYEBrisbane to go in the draw to win an awesome prize pack including family accommodation, a South Bank dining voucher and tickets to Medieval Power at the Queensland Museum. For details, head to Visit Brisbane.
Then when the sun has set, fireworks will light up the night sky at both 8.30pm and midnight to beats broadcasted by Hit105.
Three barges stationed in front of South Bank and atop three CBD rooftops will welcome 2016 with a bang, shooting five tonnes of fireworks into the sky.
You’ll be able to enjoy the show from anywhere along the South Bank riverfront, including River Quay, Streets Beach, Riverside Green and the Cultural Forecourt.
For the late-night diners at the waterfront restaurants just around the river’s bend, Eagle Street Pier will be setting off a fireworks display at the stroke of midnight. Indulge in a waterfront dinner and prime views of the show with a celebratory drink in hand.
Alternatively, you can catch the spectacular sight from a picnic blanket in Captain Burke Park, or the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
Further along, Portside Wharf’s fireworks display will sync up with the HIT105 soundtrack at both 8.30pm and midnight as well. Book into one of the fabulous restaurants at the wharf, or pack a picnic and head for Northshore Riverside Park for alfresco celebrations with family and friends.
