South Bank will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland this December, with dozens of free Christmas events for the whole family to enjoy.

Whether your idea of Christmas is shopping, relaxing by a pool or singing along to Christmas carols, South Bank literally has something for every Christmas fanatic this December.

Christmas Markets

If you can’t wait to turn your home into a Christmas wonderland, South Bank’s Christmas Markets presented by eatSouthBank will put you in high spirits.

From 11 to 23 December, village-style market stalls will line the cobbled streets of Stanley Street Plaza, bursting with accessories, homewares and decorations to adorn your home as well as mouth-watering goodies to stock the Christmas pantry.

Think pudding, gingerbread, relishes and cheese, eggnog, iced tea and lots more. Yum!

Check them out from 11am to 8pm daily (except for 17-21 December when markets will operate until 9pm).

Christmas Carols

Now, it wouldn’t be Christmas without Christmas Carols.

So you best bring the family and friends along to join in on South Bank Christmas Carols, presented by Hillsong Brisbane!

The Courier-Mail Piazza will come alive with all your favourite carols from 6.45pm each night from 17 to 20 December.

Christmas Fireworks

When your heart is full of song, head straight for Clem Jones Promenade to marvel at the Christmas Fireworks Spectacular presented by go via network.

Every night at 8.15pm, from 17 to 21 December, you’ll be mesmerised by a spectacular display of fireworks over the Brisbane River choreographed to some of your favourite Christmas tunes.

And in a brand new twist, Brisbane’s own CityCats will be part of the pyrotechnics, launching fireworks from their decks as they cruise past South Bank!

Christmas Cinema

After a day of Christmas shopping or running around with the family, you’ll need to cool down and relax at the Christmas Cinema Series at Streets Beach.

Relive classic films from Christmases past, including Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone, Dr Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas and more, sharing some giggles with the whole family.

Pack a picnic to share on the sand, or loll in the cool waters for splash-tastic fun.

Nightly screenings will run at 6.30pm and 8.30pm from 17 to 21 December and 6.30pm on 22 and 23 December.

Christmas in the City

This year, there will also be tons of festive fun to experience in The City!

Check out the Brisbane City Christmas Tree in King George Square as well as the Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular, and perennial favourites, Myer Christmas Parade and Pantomime which will delight audiences every evening from 11 to 20 December.
