A new indoor skydiving facility is set to open its doors on the Gold Coast later this year – offering thrill seekers a safer alternative to jumping out of a plane.
Indoor Skydive Australia Group Limited launched a pre-sale of tickets to the Gold Coast skydiver market in September with the aim to test the popularity of the facility prior to the expected opening.
The pre-sale was open to flyers for 24 hours and surprisingly reached record breaking pre-opening sales for the group, with over 600 hours sold.
ISA Group CEO Wayne Jones says the company was thrilled with the results.
“It was a fantastic result that instilled confidence that our Gold Coast facility will be just as popular as our location in Sydney,” he says.
iFLY Downunder in Sydney has already seen over 80,000 customers through the doors since opening in early 2014.
Indoor Skydive Australia Group CMO, Brett Sheridan says people have really taken to indoor skydiving.
“When we launched the pre-sale for Penrith we sold over 500 hours of tunnel time; and to beat that with the Gold Coast proves to us that people are loving indoor skydiving!” he says.
“Indoor skydiving is not only a serious sport but also something that can be enjoyed by the whole family, or just by those seeking an adrenaline rush without the fear!”
Brett says iFLY have hired some of the world’s top indoor skydiving instructors to work at their Gold Coast location.
“We have instructors that are professional, globally recognised sportspeople that have years of training under their belts to refine their flying skills,” he says.
“We would love to see Indoor Skydiving become part of the Commonwealth Games in 2018, with flyers right here on the Gold Coast now!”
