The Moonlight Cinema has unveiled its summer program, including advance screenings of the hottest new releases before they hit cinemas.

Running from 16 December until March next year at Brisbane Powerhouse, Moonlight Cinema is set to be bigger and better than ever with heaps of film screenings, food and entertainment.

Ian Sutherland, Director of Marketing for Amalgamated Holdings Limited, says with hotly anticipated previews and some of the biggest blockbusters, this summer’s event will be spectacular.

“We’ve lined up all the trimmings to make each Moonlight experience extra special,” he says.

“Teaming up with some of the country’s most picturesque gardens, we’ve lined up the comfiest bean beds, Gold Grass for the ultimate outdoor cinema experience, a delicious menu, a well-stocked bar, as well as dog friendly screenings, and many exceptional nights of film.”

This summer, J-Law fans will not be disappointed with two massive screenings of the final instalment of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, and an advanced screening of her latest Oscar contending film, Joy.

Be first in line to see western thriller The Revenant, which might finally see Leonardo DiCaprio win his first Oscar; as well as Sisters, the latest flick from hilarious comedy queens Amy Poehler and Tina Fey; and Dirty Grandpa, a twisted spring break trip with Zac Efron and Robert De Niro.

For the mini movie buffs, there will be advance screenings of the latest epic animation adventure The Good Dinosaur from Disney Pixar, as well as everyone’s favourite childhood book franchise turned silver screen smash hit, Goosebumps, starring the monstrously funny Jack Black. Plus previews of Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie.

Moonlight also has plenty of box office smashes in store, like Daniel Craig in the latest Bond blockbuster, Spectre as well as the latest entry in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

And cult classic cravers will love the line-up of favourites includes Dirty Dancing, Top Gun and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. There’s also a Grease Sing-a-long. Doggie Nights will also return with puppy friendly screenings.

Don’t worry, foodies, there will be plenty of food to eat, with Moonlight’s famous LA-style food trucks and fully licensed bar serving up tasty treats for all appetites.

Audiences can tuck into a scrumptious menu of movie munchies including pulled pork sliders, New Yorker chilli cheese dogs, buffalo fried chicken, parmesan truffle fries and fresh Nutella donuts. Yum!

Group Director of Culinary, Adam Petta has an exciting menu in store.

“A great film has to be accompanied by great food. As a film buff, this is always one of my favourite projects of the year, combining my love of food with cinema in the great outdoors. We’ve worked hard to put together a tasty menu exclusively for Moonlight Cinema that pairs perfectly with the film-watching experience,” he says.
