Brisbane Zombie Walk

For those obsessed with the living dead, you’ve got to take part in this year’s Zombie Walk. The event helps raise funds for the Brain Foundation and features an array of Halloween themed festivities including makeup, markets and movies. There will also be live music by Pocket Love, LS Philosophy, Mad Mariachi, Dr Parallax, The Molotov, Sam & Kirstie and MC Kitch. This year the walk will be held on Sunday 1 November and start at Roma Street Parklands.

Tickets: $20pp for students/concession, $25pp general admission or $50 for a family (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children).

Drive in Movie Night

If your kids aren’t too fond of zombies or the scary stuff, Jindalee Home Centre will be holding a less scary Halloween event for kids this Saturday night – featuring a drive in screening of Penguins of Madagascar and a range of fun activities. Dress up in your Halloween costumes and join in on the fun from 4pm, including a free jumping castle, bubble bottles, giant games, competitions and music from Yesterdays Heroes. Kids can also enjoy an evening of trick or treating with many of the centre’s stores giving away goodies. Plus there will be free entry into Rowdy Rascals from 3pm to 6pm, and after 5pm children will receive a free light up balloon from Choices Flooring Centenary.

Halloween Markets

This Saturday the Jan Powers Farmers Markets at the Brisbane Powerhouse are going to look and taste a little bit scary! The markets and its vendors will be dressed in their Halloween best, with plenty of themed goodies for all. Enjoy wickedly good ingredients and spook-tacular Halloween treats, including strawberries dipped in white chocolate to create ghosts, turn peeled mandarins into pumpkins and beetroot and apple juices to make a deathly looking drink. Why not buy a carving pumpkin or two, with plenty of ready-to-carve pumpkins on sale at the markets.

The Halloween themed Jan Powers Farmer Markets will be held on Saturday 31 October from 6am until noon at the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm.

Halloween Express

Trick or treaters of all ages step aboard the Halloween Express steam train this Saturday night, for a night time trip through Brisbane. Presented by The Workshop Rail Museum, the heritage steam train will take you and your little ones for an hour long ride through the city. Make sure you dress up in your scariest costume!

Tickets: $91 for a family ticket (2 adult and 2 children), $28 for adults, $19 for children (aged 3-15), $25 for concessions.

Brews + Beats

Brews + Beats will see The Manly Hotel carpark transform into one huge Halloween party! From 2pm enjoy live music acts, entertainment and goodies from one of Brisbane’s food truck phenomenons. Then sit back and relax while you watch the Manly Harbour Village’s Halloween Street Parade as it meanders down Cambridge Parade from dusk. The carpark party will finish up at 8pm, as the party goes inside where SPLASH will entertain the crowd until midnight.

Halloween Zombie Movies

To celebrate Halloween this year, Event Cinemas in Brisbane City Myer Centre will be screening a couple of zombie movies this weekend. From 7pm on Friday night (30 October) enjoy Shaun of the Dead starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and on Saturday night (31 October) Zombieland starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. Come early for the Frightful Zombie Party experience, with prizes for best dressed. Dust off those Halloween costumes people!

American Horror Story

If you’re a Halloween nut, you can’t miss Buffalo Bar’s American Horror Story. Enjoy boozy tunes, spooky food, live music and entertainment and heaps of prizes. Dress as your favourite American Horror character! It will be one hell of a night!

Halloween High Tea

If you’re after something a little more elegant and classy this Halloween, Stamford Plaza Hotel is hosting a spooky high tea! Enjoy Halloween themed treats like brain jelly, spider web pumpkin pie and worm trifle with zombie rising from the dead, complemented by savouries like cheddar eye balls and lucifer sandwiches. Yikes! There will also be horrific drinks on offer like swamp jelly shots and severed head sangria, as well as prize for the scariest and funniest costumes.
