The brand-new Event Cinemas complex at Orion Springfield Central, which isn’t scheduled to open until Thursday 5 November, has just started selling its first tickets.
Naturally, the first tickets available to pre-purchase are to the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which has already shattered pre-sale records around the world.
Event Cinemas has sold over 30,000 tickets to the film since they went on sale around Australia yesterday morning, selling out many early screenings. But since tickets to the Event Cinemas Springfield location have only just gone on sale, Star Wars fans might still be able to snap up a ticket to a midnight screening — if they move at lightspeed.
“We can’t wait to open the doors to this amazing property for people to actually come in and watch a movie that will be a true movie-going event,” says Event Cinemas Springfield general manager Bek Barnes. “It seems so fitting that in our first interaction with future patrons, we’re able to give them a chance to pre-purchase tickets to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and have the added excitement of being able to experience it in our new cinema. It’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime moment.”
Event Cinemas Springfield will boast two luxury Gold Class cinemas and two 24 metre Vmax screens, as well as a Dolby Atmos sound system expected to provide an immersive sound experience.
Tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Event Cinemas Springfield are on sale now at eventcinemas.com.au. The film will be released on December 17. To meet demand, the theatre chain is opening more sessions at all of their cinema locations, including more Gold Class, Vmax and 3D sessions.
