Get ready to step back in time to an era filled with shoulder pads, big hair and fluorescent colours – when Heathers the Musical makes its Brisbane debut next year.
The musical is set to grace QPAC’s stage from 9 to 17 January, starring Kirby Burgess (Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage, Grease) and Jaz Flowers (Hairspray).
Based on the 1988 cult film Heathers starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, Heathers the Musical is a fast paced, pop rock show written by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives) and Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde).
Staying true to the story line of the original film, this heartfelt, hilarious, homicidal new musical is for everyone who has ever longed to be in the ‘popular’ group or dreamed of taking revenge on the cool kids.
Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing threesome: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruellest girls at school. But misfit Veronica Sawyer (played by Jaz Flowers) rejects their evil regime and falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler (played by Kirby Burgess) kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to put the Heathers in their place – six feet under.
You can’t miss this deliciously dark musical production of Heathers!
Heathers the Musical tickets are on sale from Friday 23 October through www.qpac.com.au or call 136 246.
