From quilts to adult colouring-in, this year’s Craft and Quilt Fair has something for everyone.
Marking the 21st birthday of the Craft and Quilt Fair, this year’s exhibition will be a must-attend for crafts lovers. With the best quilts from two highly anticipated national challenges, coming to Brisbane. The challenges include, True Blue and the Lest We Forget Quilt Challenge – 100 years, 100 quilts, plus a stunning display of local works presented by members of Queensland Quilters Inc.
The True Blue display will capture interpretations from the theme ranging from Blue Heelers to sporting heroes. Included in the pieces will be Queensland artist, Jeannie Henry’s True Blue Jacko the Kookaburra (pictured) which one first prize at the 2015 Quilt Convention.
The Lest We Forget Quilt Challenge – 100 years, 100 quilts will also feature 100 captivating quilts capturing one of Australia’s most defining times which will be showcased together as a 7.25 metre mosaic.
Also on offer will be the annual Queensland Quilt Show presented by Queensland Quilters Inc. The collection will feature entries from across eight different categories to theme of blue and white/cream.
Also in attendance will be Queensland’s vintage style guru, Miss Chrissy from The Lindy Charm School For Girls will share her Make Do and Mend styling tips and tricks which will allow the modern fashionista to create new takes on old looks.
A highlight of the fair will be a display of vintage and new Japanese boro textiles with items from Jane MacDonald from BeBeBold: Japanese Textiles & Craft and Shuji Yamazaki of Wabi-Sabi Designs showcasing the beauty of aged textiles.
Visitors to the fair will also be able to stock up on supplies with an array of the latest tools, supplies and gadgets. From specialty suppliers to online retailers from all over Australia, the fair will be bursting with crafty goodness.
From adult colouring-in to embroidery, knitting, paper craft and wearable art, there is sure to be something for everyone.
