Celebrated Brisbane singer-songwriter Bernard Fanning will be joined by #1 Dads, Mosman Alder and more in a special live concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of national charity Youngcare.

Fanning has been invited to curate the fourth Youngcare Benefit Concert; the events have raised more than $650,000 for young Aussies with high care needs.

“The first concert that we did at City Hall in 2006 holds some incredible memories for me,” Fanning said.

“It was an atmosphere like no other I have experienced as a performer. I can’t wait to be part of it again. It’s an iconic venue that rarely hosts concerts such as these.

“I take great pleasure in welcoming Mosman Alder and #1 Dads headed by the multi-talented Tom Iansek and his host of merry guests, as well as my own band and returning funny man Julian Morrow.

“As always, we also have a special surprise guest. Come along and be part of it, help a great cause and be entertained up to the eyeballs for your trouble.”

Over the years, the Youngcare Benefit Concert has been host to a mouth-watering list of performers who have donated their time. Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Powderfinger, Pete Murray, Tim Rogers and Clare Bowditch are just some of the artists to have graced the Youngcare stage.

“I am yet to come across an artist who doesn’t want to be involved in some way,” Fanning said.

Mosman Alder collectively said: “We are delighted to find ourselves in a position to contribute as a band to such a worthy cause. And what a privilege to be sharing the stage with artists of such a high calibre! We feel truly humbled to be part of the whole event”.

For the past ten years, Bernard has helped Youngcare shine a bright light on the issues faced by young Aussies with high care needs, inspired by his friendship with David and Shevaune Conrry – with Shevaune being Youngcare’s inspiration.

Since 2005, Youngcare has worked to provide purpose-built accommodation, grants, research and a support phone line for thousands of young Australians living in aged care and hundreds of thousands more being cared for at home by loved ones.

The Youngcare Benefit Concert will be held at Brisbane City Hall on Saturday 10 October.
