If your idea of a relaxing weekend is snuggling up on a picnic blanket in the park listening to soulful tunes, you’re in luck!
The City Sounds program comes to South Bank from Friday 5 June, with heaps of free live performances throughout the precinct.
City Sounds is Australia’s largest free live music program and has been running in Brisbane’s CBD for the past 15 years. In that time, it’s grown from 50 shows and 150 performances to more than 750 shows and 2,200 performances a year.
From alternative and folk, to jazz and electro, rock and everything in between, City Sounds has something to suit everybody’s music tastes.
Come along and enjoy incredible performances by local bands and touring artists like Shannon Marshall and the Souls Almighty (featuring legendary guitarist Jim Kelly), pop trio Fox And Fowl, soul sensation Astrid, contemporary jazz band SCAT, melodic folk solo artist Angharad Drake and indie-pop duo The Phoncurves.
Shows will be held in South Bank Parklands every Friday and Saturday throughout June and then once a month after that. Performances will be held at different times.
Performance locations change regularly and include some of South Bank Parkland’s most stunning spaces such as River Quay, Rainforest Green and the Little Stanley Street Lawns. If you’re heading to a River Quay show, why not bring a bottle of wine to enjoy? The green is licensed between 10am and 8pm daily. Please note that to consume alcohol at South Bank, you must be 18+ and you must have food to accompany your drinks. Drink responsibly.
Whether you want to bring the whole family along for a fun afternoon out, or have a romantic picnic with your partner, City Sounds is a great opportunity for everyone to kick back and relax.
