This Christmas season, don’t miss Eleanor Freeman in The Nutcracker, along with more free activities at South Bank.
One of the stars of Queensland Ballet’s The Nutcracker, Eleanor Freeman, says to bring the production to life on stage is a truly wonderful experience. And this Christmas season, Brisbane audiences have the chance to experience it for themselves.
“I think my favourite part would have to be the Waltz of the Flowers,” Eleanor says. “The live orchestral music, the beautiful costumes and the exciting choreography brings this part in the ballet alive for me, and I feel that the audience gets swept up in this waltz as well.”
The Nutcracker is the tale of Clara. On Christmas Eve, when the clock strikes 12, her nutcracker doll transforms into a real-life prince and whisks her away to fantastical lands.
“It is a story created around a child’s imagination,” Eleanor says, “making it a vibrant and exciting production that really can be enjoyed by the whole family.”
South Bank will host a free outdoor screening of Queensland Ballet’s stage performance of The Nutcracker on Sunday 21 December at 6:15pm. It will also feature behind-the-scenes footage from the performance including the making of the delightful sets and props.
