It turns out Brisbane really, really likes Ed Sheeran — demand for tickets was so high during his pre-sale that the English singer-songwriter has announced a second Brisbane show.

In the country last weekend to perform at the AFL Grand Final, promote his sophomore album x (pronounced ‘multiply’), and talk up his national tour, Sheeran apparently drummed up enough interest to necessitate second shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

The unusual tour will see Sheeran become the first muso in 20 years to undertake a headline national arena tour completely solo (the last guy to do it was the late John Denver). Sheeran will be accompanied on stage only by his loop pedal and his acoustic guitar, with no help from anybody else. He’s basically the Jesse Martin of music.

Every ticket to Sheeran’s entire tour will be priced at $99 (plus booking fees), with no ‘deluxe’ or ‘AAA’-type options available, giving all of his fans an equal opportunity to score the best seat in the house.

No bells and whistles needed — Sheeran lets his soulful sounds do the talking.

Sheeran will play the Brisbane Riverstage on Friday 20 March and Saturday 21 March. Tickets go on sale from 10am on Thursday 2 October. For more info, visit our event guide.
