ABBA music and delicious food, all for a good cause.
The Big City Barbecue is a lunchtime festival event focused on bringing the community together for charity.
With the support of the corporate CBD the Brisbane Big City Barbecue has raised almost $600,000 for charity since it began in 2006.
The beneficiaries for 2014 are Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, supporting Brisbane’s disadvantaged and those suffering a disability, Drug Arm Australasia, relieving the suffering and trauma of alcohol and drug abuse, and Foodbank Queensland’s Brisbane Division, feeding those in need by redistributing surplus food.
Leftover food will be given to OzHarvest, which saves excess food which would otherwise be discarded and distributes it to those in need.
The lunchtime barbecue event will run on Friday September 5 from 12pm to 2pm and the evening event will run from 5pm to 7pm. The evening event will feature Bjorn Again, the world’s number one ABBA show and the most successful tribute band of all time.
There are a range of fantastic raffle prizes up for grabs and it’s all part of spreading the message of Team Brisbane and celebrating the things that make our city unique. The event will be held at Riparian Plaza, 71 Eagle Street, Brisbane.
