Listen up, jazz lovers! The Brisbane International Jazz Festival is back after the success of its inaugural event last year. This year from June 4-8, festival goers will be treated to the smooth sounds of local, interstate and international artists.
Highlights of the upcoming festival include:
- An opening night performance from award Queensland jazz composers; Rafael Karlen, Andrew Butt, Louise Denson and Sean Foran. They will be presenting ‘World Premieres’, a performance that was exclusively commissioned by Jazz Queensland.
- Finland’s Jukka Perko Avara Trio performing a mix of contemporary jazz with Finnish hymns
- A Sunday lunch river cruise with the Paradise City Jazz trio on the Kookaburra River Queen
- “One of Europe’s most inventive saxophonists”, Julian Arguelles will be performing with the piano trio, TRICHOTOMY.
There will also be a range of free concerts held in Queen Street to showcase upcoming local jazz talent.
Concerts and performances will be held at a variety of venues around Brisbane including the Queensland Multicultural Centre, the Brisbane Jazz Club, Queen Street Mall and the Jazz Music Institute.
