It’ll be a green affair in Chermside when Brisbane celebrates sustainable living with a free family day out.
There will be entertainment for all ages when 15,000 Brisbane locals flock to the council’s Green Heart Fair at 7th Brigade Park on 1 June.
The annual action-packed fair is designed to provide Brisbane residents with sustainable living options and ways to reduce the cost of living, through a day of family-friendly activities:
COOKING & GARDENING: My Kitchen Rules’ surfers dads Paul and Blair will provide guests with healthy and organic cooking demonstrations in the Westpac Grow.Eat.Live marquee.
Evergreen gardening expert Annette McFarlane will exhibit organic gardening techniques and the best ways to grow fruit at home.
LIVE MUSIC: Local artists including Cheap Fakes, Band of Frequencies and Danny Widdicombe will take to the stage.
FOR THE KIDS: The kids will enjoy ABC’s eco-warrior dirtgirlworld demonstration on how to plant simple veggies and herbs, and Geckos Wildlife Presentations’ native wildlife and oceanic shows.
For the active young ones, Queensland Reds players will be sharing tips in Rookies2Reds and there is the Little Kickers program for soccer enthusiasts.
Shows by Captain Barnacle from Octonauts as well as Peppa Pig and George are also set to be highlights of the day.
FOR THE ADULTS: Green Heart Fair guests will be able to sample locally sourced food, take part in interactive art projects and take home a free native plant.
Raffle prizes on the day include holiday getaways, bike packages and family passes to Australia Zoo.
Gather the family, head down to the Green Heart Fair on June 1 and support Brisbane’s green dreams for the future.
