Prepare to journey through old and new Japan as Don Kon Ten Shan* combines the traditional music of the koto (Japanese harp), taiko (drums), shamisen (banjo), shinobue (flute) and narimono (percussion) with Western instruments including acoustic guitar and piano.

Fresh from performances at BrisAsia Festival and Wa-Gakki at Brisbane City Hall, Don Kon Ten Shan is a new Brisbane-based band comprised of four internationally renowned musicians.

Hailing from Japan and Australia, band members are: Takako Nishibori (world renowned master of koto and shamisen); Phil Wilson (Oz Music Awards Finalist, and composer for the award winning Deep Blue Orchestra); Chie Kajiwara and Steve Mason (Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland Multicultural Festival, GOMA, QPAC).
