Joe Creighton brings a tremendous authenticity to his show that pays homage to the legendary Irish songwriter that is Van Morrison.
Creighton grew up at the same time and on the same streets in Belfast as Morrison, and he watched Van perform live in the early days of Them. It is this connection that allows Creighton to bring a raw honesty to his show that can’t be matched by others.
Known primarily as one of this country’s most formidable bass players that has seen him tour with John Farnham, Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton John, Creighton is also a singer/songwriter with his debut album Hollywell released in 1994 to critical acclaim.
Into the Mystic sees Creighton effortlessly recreate the feeling of those heady days and releases the essence of the music that was so integral to the success of Van Morrison. He takes the audience on a journey that begins in the 1960s and moves through the decades encompassing Van’s worldwide hits, with a sprinkling of some of the more mystical poetic songs from Astral Weeks.
‘If you closed your eyes, you’d think Van Morrison was standing in front of you, singing some of his greatest hits…’ – Devonport Jazz
