Soul divas, funk merchants, crate diggers and all round audiophiles get down to Hello Afro, the new monthly fiesta in the heart of West End. Come and discover a new gem or just test the strength of The End’s floorboards while the city’s finest wax spinners give your ears a massage with classic and rare vinyl.
Expect all things Afro, peppered with funk, motown, heavy soul, boogie, rare groove, cumbia, tropical, psychedelia, ethio-jazz and pretty much anything that’ll get your giblets a-jigglin’.
DJ SCORPIO discovered tropical beats while travelling in Colombia in the late 1990s, bringing back as many cumbia and champeta mixtapes as he could carry. He has obsessed about afro-latin tropical bass music ever since, bringing it to venues Super Wotnot, the Public Bar, GOMA Up Late as well as Mullumbimby RSL. When he’s not playing weird North-Coast rainforest parties he can be found bartering off-grid goods and services for vinyl records.
SELECTA WATSON is the man behing the low frequencies in Dubmarine and The Upsteppers and knows a thing or two about wax.
