Great Brisbane Bike RideThe Great Brisbane Bike Ride (including Coot-tha Challenge) is the feature event of Bike Week.
On the GBBR, there’s a challenge for bike riders of all abilities. Riders can choose from a 40km, 75km or 110km route, starting and finishing on Riverside Drive at West End.
All riders will follow the general direction of the Brisbane River on a road route towards the Gateway Bridge, before climbing over the Brisbane landmark and heading back towards the City via Kingsford Smith Drive and the Inner-City Bypass which will be closed to motor vehicles.
The 75km and 110km routes also give riders the option of taking on the famed Coot-tha Challenge – a timed 2.3km, 9 per cent climb up and around Mt Coot-tha. Last year, 1,500 riders took the ultimate test by tackling the mountain.
Participants will be able to raise money for Diabetes Queensland, funds vital to helping the organisation provide much needed support, research and education about the condition.
