Jeff Makin’s first Brisbane exhibition in 22 years will open at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley
The exhibition ‘Landmarks’, is comprised mainly of works that have been inspired by a number of painting trips to Queensland and Northern New South Wales over the past 12 months.
Makin is a current finalist in the 2016 Percival Portrait Painting Prize and the 2016 Tattersall’s Art Prize. Makin was the winner of the Gold Coast Art Prize in 1971 and the Brisbane Tattersall’s Art Prize in 1992 and has been a finalist in the Tattersall’s Prize from 2008 – 2011.
Hailed as one of Australia’s greatest living landscape artists, Jeff Makin is best known for his en plein air paintings that follow in the tradition of the Australian Colonial painters.
This exhibition opens Friday 6th May at 6pm and Makin will be attending the opening event.
Following on from the opening night Jeff Makin will also conduct an artist talk discussing his inspiration and practice on Saturday 7th May at 2pm. The talk is a free event and everyone is encouraged to attend.
Mitchell Fine Art is open 6 days a week, Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.
