The Triffid and Footstomp Music are stoked to announce that Brisbane’s favourite purveyors of frenetic rock n pop, The Grates, are all set to headline Bulimba Festival’s Lunch on the Lawn event this November!
Bursting out of the garages and backyards of Brisbane with scraped knees and larger-than-life sound, The Grates and their DIY ethos has always mischievously disturbed the quiet. Their debut album ‘Gravity Won’t Get You High’ (2006) was a renegade hit in a scene dominated by over night pop-stars and steadfast rockers. The two LPs that followed, ‘Teeth Lost, Hearts Won’ (2008) and ‘Secret Rituals’ (2011) followed suit with top 10 ARIA Chart debuts, J Award and AMP Award nominations.
With events at locations around the suburb from 9 to 15 November, Bulimba Festival will culminate in the headline event Lunch on the Lawn in Memorial Park, Oxford Street on Sunday 15 November from 10am to 6pm.
The Grates will be playing at the Park at 5pm.
Lunch on the Lawn will include Bulimba’s traditional market which has been moved to Stuart and Godwin Streets to alleviate the traffic congestion; an awesome line up of local artists on stage from 12pm; a licensed area; VIP Bar and of course plenty of fun for the family.
