The National Fashion Design Awards, to be staged as a gala evening on 9 August, is the initiative of bridal retail franchise Hills on Hollywood owners’ Lisa Kajar and Gayle Clark.
The National Fashion Design Awards will include categories such as business attire, avant garde, bridal and racewear and are set to fill the gap formerly held by the RAQ Fashion Design Awards which folded in 2009.
“Australian designers deserve recognition for their hard work,” says Kajar. “We need these awards to help consumers buy local, and for up and coming designers to showcase their talents.”

Gee 9th August, they already closed the Indooroopilly store, now they have closed the Chermside and sunshine coast stores, my daughter is out $15,000.00 for bridal and formal gowns, thousands of people have bee caught after paying and booking their dresses now with no sign of care or resposibility as to who they owe or where the dresses and money has gone……obviously it went into this event. Shame on Gayle and Lisa they took money upto and including the day they shut the doors on all stores and we are the ones that suffer from thir DISHONESTY AND ILLEGAL activity
We have been caught out as well with so many false promises. This has to be stopped. We don’t have a dress for our big day now and are hugely out of pocket. All I was told today is that Gayle is bankrupt and our money is gone.
Is she not opening a new store? Have we lost our money paid for a Formal dress? She sent an email to say the new store will be opening on rhe Southside. Does anyone know anything?
We too have lost our money and formal dress. Chris Freeburn has bought the Hills In Hollywood and has opened a new store in Jindalee, but says his is not liable for Gayle’s debts. He offered us to choose a dress form his shop for $150.00, or the dress that I paid for in February, he will ship over from America for $350.00! I am getting someone to make us the exact same dress for less and have reported the situation to the Commission for Fair Trading
Joining the club of very disappointed 🙁 I also have lost my money and dress with receipts of full payment and emails from Gayle full of promises.
Chris Freeburn has said he can get my dress but not as cheap as some of the above apparently I’m out another $1200!!!! Which makes me think he’s not going to be any better. I’ve also heard from SV Partners that the new store is re selling some of the dresses that have been paid for??? Keep investigating lovely ladies do not let this ruin such a beautiful time in our lives ‘ Your wedding day ‘
Well Chris Freeburn CEO (CEO of Loose values) keeps harassing people who were ripped off asking them to pay again for their dresses or he will sell them at Jindalee so my original $500 dress needs another $500 to buy it, how stupid does he think the burnt customers are, this is all a sham. The US manufacturers Allure who I contacted said the issue is that they are owed over $1,000,000.00 US by the Clarkes through their International gowns and Hills in Hollywood business names, personally they have every right to with hold their garments. The Clarks, oh yes and good friend Chris Freeburn are responsible for this. Another HIH closed this month in Canberra leaving hundreds out of pocket. DONT TRUST ANY HILLS IN HOLLYWOOD STORES THEY ALL ARE linked in some way – hidden trust or different managers but they are all going to fold. If this is not the case then Chris Freeburn should give the outstanding customers their dresses he knew what he was doing when he bought the company name for $1.00 he knew customers were going to get burnt.
