A one-hour special TV episode of The Great Australian BBQ will be filmed at South Bank Parklands on 22 February to be aired on 7Mate in April.

Chefs and barbecuing aficionados from across Australia will vie for a cash prize, as well as the title of barbecue master, while raising money for Queensland Meals on Wheels.

Television and radio personalities Mike Goldman and Liz Cantor will host the competition, while the judges include celebrity chef Alastair McLeod, former Queensland rugby league great Billy Moore, and author and presenter Dominique Rizzo.

The event will serve as a trial for the concept to be developed into a 22-episode series.

Collaborating with Meals on Wheels Queensland on The Great Australian BBQ are marketing and PR agency TwoCents Group and digital production agency Light and Shade Media.

The Great Australian BBQ runs from 9am to 6.30pm on Saturday 22 February at Picnic Island Green, South Bank Parklands, and members of the public are invited to be part of the audience.
