If we manage to squeeze in breakfast before we get to the office, we’re usually pretty impressed with ourselves. But according to the World Economic Forum, there are at least 14 other things we need to do in the morning if we really want to be successful.
The World Economic Forum yesterday shared a list compiled by time-management expert Laura Vanderkam, author of What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast. It is, to put it frankly, a little intimidating.
According to the tweet, this is what successful people do before they even think about tucking into that bowl of Weet-Bix.
- They wake up early.
- They drink water.
- They exercise before it falls off the to-do list.
- They work on a top priority business project.
- They work on a personal-passion project.
- They spend quality time with family.
- They connect with their spouses.
- They make their beds.
- They network over coffee.
- They meditate to clear their minds.
- They write down things they’re grateful for.
- They plan and strategise while they’re fresh.
- They check their email.
- They read the news.
If you think that sounds like a bit much, you’re not alone — reaction to the list from the Twittersphere has been harsh, swift and occasionally hilarious.

By "before breakfast", you mean the 24 hours leading up to breakfast? https://t.co/SNNct3JsMo
