Brisbane by Bicycle promise to provide you with the most authentic, fun and informative local’s guide to Brisbane – all while pedalling around the town.

This is a company that love what they do. And what they love the most is riding bikes around Brisbane with brand new friends from all over the world, showing off what they love most about the city.

If you are looking for things to do in Brisbane, come and join them on a fun, easy-paced tour and discover Brisbane from a local’s perspective. The tours are fully guided by a Brisbane local with extensive knowledge of the city and combine historical sites and cultural attractions with a true insider’s guide to local bars, dining options, events and attractions. We think that there is really no better way to see the sights of Brisbane than by bicycle with a local guide.

Getting under the skin of a city can be difficult, even if you’ve lived here for a long time. Plus having a local show you around is the best way to discover places and parts of the city which are not covered in any guidebook.

The company will take you directly to all of the main entertainment precincts and provide specific information about events and activities that are happening in Brisbane, as well as many hidden gems that are otherwise rarely discovered by visitors to Brisbane.

The tours are designed around reflecting the authentic local experience. Recommendations about cheap eats, things to do in Brisbane, best place for a drink, free entertainment options and things to do during your time here are an important aspect to the tours.

Brisbane By Bicycle also offers an independent bike hire service so you can get off the beaten path or discover Brisbane’s best tourist attractions yourself.

We chatted to Ross Harvey from Brisbane by Bicycle and asked him all about his insider tips for discovering Brisbane on a bike.

Why Brisbane by bike?
A bicycle is definitely the best way to get around Brisbane, particularly the inner city areas. With over 1000 kilometres of cycle paths, an ideal climate and beautiful riverside cycle paths – you are guaranteed a great day out in Brisbane on a bicycle!

How do you decide what to include on the tours?
We currently offer a 3.5 hour tour as well as a 2 hour ‘Essential Brisbane’ tour every day of the week. In November, we will also be launching our ‘Twilight Tour’. A lot of research goes into each of our tours. At Brisbane By Bicycle, we are constantly staying in touch with what is going on around Brisbane to provide our guests with the best local recommendations (events, festivals. activities, new places to eat/drink etc). Apart from that, we ensure to keep the tours fun and entertaining with some stories and a little bit of history thrown in as well. Having said that, we are always happy to conduct specialised tours depending on our customer’s interest. Just recently we did a tour focused on Brisbane street art which was a lot of fun. Our longer tours also include a picnic in New Farm Park and a cold beer at a great inner-city bar at the end of the tour. It’s always great to sit around and have a chat to everyone at the end of the tour.

Some comments from past cyclers?

Wendy from New Zealand: “If you want to really get to know Brisbane then do this tour. In 3 and a half hours we covered a LOT of ground and explored so many beautiful, interesting areas we wouldn’t have thought to visit if we’d been finding our own way around.”

Rebecca from Ireland: “Cycling by the river on a sunny day (99% of the time in Brissie!) is totally idyllic”

Mary from Perth: “Cycling round Brisbane was easily the best way to see the city and was a fantastic experience. Ross could not have been a better tour guide and was a mind full of information about the history and stories of everything we passed”.

Any tips or advice if someone is about to go on their first bike tour?
Cycling is easier than you think and our tours are suitable for all. Come along with a positive attitude, we’ll take great care of you and you’re bound to have a fantastic day.

Your personal favourite place in Brisbane to cycle to?
I love riding along the river from West End, over the story bridge and through the streets of New Farm and finishing with a picnic in New Farm Park. The perfect way to spend a Sunday!
