Dance your way to fitness with the Queensland Ballet.
The company is introducing a new six-week Ballet Basics course, starting from 5 June at the Thomas Dixon Centre in West End. The course will give participants the opportunity to engage in a set of six one-hour classes, running every Thursday night from 6pm to 7pm, which will focus on the principals and techniques of a ballet class.This course is perfect for people who’ve never taken a ballet course before, and want to learn the basics, or for experienced dancers who want to refresh their ballet knowledge.

“The Ballet Basics course is perfect for anyone who wants to experience the health and fitness benefits of dance and ballet, and have fun while doing it,” he says.” The new course will enable participants to develop and refine fundamental ballet techniques including correct placement of ballet positions and barre work, with each week’s class building on learnings from the previous week.”
The course will be a great lead up to Queensland Ballet’s brand new Winter Ballet Boot Camp, which will commence on Monday 14 July.This camp will be a four-day intensive program, from 14 – 17 July, with each day focusing on a new ballet technique and dance style including classical ballet, contemporary and Pilates.
“Both the Ballet Basics course and Winter Boot Camp will be a great way to meet new people and get fit at the same time,”Brown says.
Queensland Ballet’s Dance Classes are open to anyone aged 16 and over. The Dance Class program currently includes Beginner and Intermediate Ballet, Contemporary, Pilates, Dance Fit, and Contemporary for Mature Age Dancers.
