The iconic Color Run is jogging into Brisbane in support of Queenslanders affected by cancer.

We’ve had to watch other states gleefully run through a riot of colours for years and at last Brisbane is getting a turn.

The Swisse Color Run’s ‘happiest 5km on the planet’ is coming to Brisbane next month – for the first time – in support of Queenslanders affected by cancer.

The Cancer Council has been named one of the 2014 national beneficiaries of the event, and is encouraging locals to make a colourful difference in the fight against cancer by taking part. The 2014 Swisse Color Run will be held in Brisbane on Sunday, June 1 at Robelle Domain, Springfield Central Parklands.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said taking part in The Color Run was a fun and easy way to pledge to get active, and lead a healthier and happier lifestyle.

“We are ecstatic to partner with The Color Run and encourage local Queenslanders to make the healthy choice to get active, and show their support all Queenslanders affected by cancer,” Ms Clift says.
“It’s important that as a community we strive to achieve a better quality of life and maintain healthy habits to prevent cancer where possible.

“We know that up to one third of cancers are preventable through simple lifestyle adjustments including engaging in regular physical activity, eating healthily and maintaining a healthy weight.”

The Color Run is one of Cancer Council Queensland’s ‘I Can Get Active for Cancer’ campaign events, calling on Queenslanders to run, hop, swim, cycle, dance or walk their way to a cancer free future. “Never underestimate how much change you can make through pledging to do something small like getting active,” Ms Clift said.  “You are also helping us raise awareness of cancer prevention and detection, and encouraging other community members to stand up and beat this disease.

“So why not get involved in The Color Run today? Help us run towards a cancer free future!”
