Japanese apparel retailer UNIQLO has officially announced that its Queen Street store will open on Tuesday 22 March.

The store, located at 170 Queen Street, spans over 2,054 square metres across three levels.

At launch, the store will offer customers the full line-up of UNIQLO apparel, showcasing the fast fashion brand’s Autumn/Winter collection and its signature Ultra Light Down (ULD) range.

To celebrate the opening, UNIQLO will install giant origami cranes in Queen Street Mall, starting from Saturday 19 March. The cranes have been designed in collaboration with local artist Jasmine Dowling.

The Queen Street store and the brand’s Indooroopilly store are expected to generate more than 200 jobs for locals.

“Since opening our first store in Melbourne in 2014, UNIQLO has gained a huge following across the country, with shoppers eager to experience our functional, affordable clothing,” says Shoichi Miyasaka, CEO of UNIQLO Australia.

“We’re looking forward to opening our second Brisbane store and making the brand more accessible to local costumers. Our wide range of everyday products and innovative fabric technology is perfect for the versatile lifestyles of those living in the sunshine state.”

The store will be the brand’s 10th in Australia. Worldwide, there are more than 1,700 UNIQLO stores in 17 countries.
