Japanese clothing retailer UNIQLO is set to open its first Brisbane store tomorrow at the redeveloped Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.

The Indooroopilly store will be the first in UNIQLO’s plans to expand across Queensland – with a second Brisbane store planned to open at the iconic Queen Street Mall in early 2016.

Chief Development Officer for UNIQLO Australia, Matt Parker, says he’s excited to finally see UNIQLO move to Brisbane.

“We’ve been quite successful in our Sydney and Melbourne stores, so it was a natural progression to move up the east coast to Brisbane,” he says.

“We’ve done a lot of research into the Brisbane market and have had some great positive feedback.

“Our products are of high quality, they’re functional and very affordable and we think that will resonate well with Queenslanders.”

UNIQLO sell a broad range of products, from cashmere sweaters and dresses to seamless underwear and long johns. Their mission statement is that great clothes should be supremely comfortable, feature universal designs, are of high quality and offer a superb fit to everyone who wears them.

“We don’t have a particular target market; we cater to everyone every day,” Matt says.

“We have a wide range of products to suit the younger market, and the older market too.

“There’s also something for every occasion, from casual clothing to business and dressy.”

Matt says coming into summer, Brisbane consumers can expect a range of “cool” products.

“At the moment we have a large linen range, and as you know linen breathes well in the heat which is great for Queensland weather. The range comes in 20 different colours,” he says.

“We also stock the brand AIRism, a company which specialise in making products to keep you cool and dry during the hotter months.”

The new UNIQLO store will offer customers a full-line up of UNIQLO apparel and showcase its spring/summer 2015 collection.

UNIQLO’s Indooroopilly store will open on Thursday 3 December and is located on Level 2 of the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. For more information visit www.uniqlo.com.au
