Zara, the Spanish clothing and accessories giant, will open its first Brisbane store next week.

The retailer’s first Brisbane store (its second Queensland location, and 15th in Australia) will open at 155 Queen St Mall next Friday 20 November. Media have been invited to tour the store from 8am, before it opens to the public from 9am to 9pm.

Zara’s first Queensland store opened its doors at Robina Town Centre late last year.

The company’s headquarters are located in Spain. Notoriously reclusive founder Amancio Ortega opened his first little shop in La Coruna in 1975; originally called ‘Zorba’ (as in ‘The Greek’), he was forced to change it after the owner of a nearby bar with the same name protested. There are now more than 2,000 Zara stores around the world.

The store will feature mens, womens and kidswear. More details about the new store, which is located opposite the site that will become Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo, are scarce at this stage, but all will be revealed next Friday.
