Get ready, Brisbane fashionistas, because St Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army are teaming up for their first Op Shop Bonanza.
There’s one thing fashion lovers enjoy more than a good bargain, and that’s finding one at an op shop.
This October two of Queensland’s most respected not for profit organisations are holding an Op Shop Bonanza and it’s going to be a not to miss event.
Retail Manager of St Vincent de Paul Scoiety Queensland, Sophie Lawson, says,
“There will be thousands of bargains available, with tubs of clothes starting from just one dollar. These two depots are clearing out their stock of furniture, clothing, home wares, toys, books and antiques, so there will be something for everyone.”
This isn’t just an event for the serious collectors or fashion lovers. The day will be full of entertainment with live music, a jumping castle, food vans and a sausage sizzle.
Volunteers will also be on hand to help shoppers load their trailers with all their bargains.
Money raised on the day will go towards helping Queensland communities. With both St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and the Salvation Army provide housing, counselling, mental health and aged care support to the most in-need people across the state.
“This is an opportunity for us to help even more people across Queensland and give them a hand up,” Ms Lawson says.
The Op Shop Bonanza is being held at 690 Gympie Road, Lawnton between 9am – 3pm on Saturday 24October.
“two of Queensland’s most respected not for profit organisations”- really?
Like all the other tax-exempt religious orgs they abused children and spread ignorance. They’re recently embroiled in the Royal Commission Into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse.
“The Starvation Army: Twelve reasons to reject the Salvation Army” is a good read: https://libcom.org/library/starvation-army-twelve-reasons-reject-salvation-army
I have no respect for them
Obviously the ‘powers that be’ live on the Northside, as this event being held at Lawnton.
It would be faster for me to get to Toowoomba, than there!
So, in your wisdom, you’ve negated HALF of the City’s populace’s money by holding it there. Smart move…..not!
It’s not even an inner North suburb; it’s a darn long way beyond that. Must’ve been the only place they could get for free!
Next time, check with RNA. At least the ‘Ekka’ grounds are more accessible for everyone, especially if public transport’s your mode of travel.
