Living Dead is a small local business with a very large following, and it’s about to get even bigger.
Last year the Brisbane based company approached the makers of the iconic American sitcom The Simpsons to get a worldwide license to produce streetwear bearing the legendary characters.
Fast forward to October 2015 and the fashion label is about to drop their newest collection featuring the famous family, just in time for Halloween.
Living Dead designer and owner Wade Lange says Treehouse of Horrors will feature printed, caricatures of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Maggie on flared dresses, patterned leggings, form flattering bodysuits, skater skirts, swimmers, rainmakers and other stretch wear.
He said the makers of the animated series (20th Century Fox) have seen every design and are said to be impressed. He’s confident people will love what they have come up with.
“The Simpsons are an institution. There aren’t too many people in the world that don’t know them,” he says.
“Living Dead started around the horror and zombie phenomenon so Halloween is like Christmas for our most loyal fans. They look forward to it all year.”
Another plus for the local business is that their reach is global meaning they can attract the all-important US market where Halloween is big business.
“The US is our biggest market. They are crazy about stretch wear. Followed by Australia and Europe. Typically people between 18 to 30 wear our clothing but also people right into their 60s.”
It’s not the first time Living Dead has teamed up with a big name. Earlier in the year they got the license to produce streetwear featuring Disney’s Marvel characters.
The collection will go on sale on Thursday 8 October at 9am.
