Even though it may not snow in sunny Queensland, you can still create a winter wonderland with your wardrobe.

Keep it crisp with fresh notes of icy ivory, frosted with a neutral palette of grey, taupe, beige and finished with a metallic edge.

According to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre stylist, Laura Stead-Churchill, this season will be all about understated luxury.

“Sleek, clean lines and relaxed styling are key. Knits are an essential, and can be dressed up or down for work or the weekend.”

For a Sunshine State take on winter wear, play with proportions and pair a mini with a long-sleeved turtleneck, or throw a short, cropped knit over a long, untucked collared shirt.

“Layers are important. Look for a light-weight wool-blend knit, cardigan or jacket that’s warm without being heavy,” Laura says.

Don’t stop at layering your garments though – accessories will give your ensembles added depth and texture. Delicate neck chains in varying lengths, broad-brimmed felt hats, and thick scarves will all be trending this winter.

Take the relatively chilly weather in your stride and invest in a pair of ankle boots with a peep-toe – the perfect “closed-in” compromise. Opt for shades of grey, tan and silver, to complement the white and neutral hues.

With less than two weeks till the new season rolls in, be quick to stock up on winter warmers. Laura recommends Witchery, Saba, Country Road, Trenery, Marcs, David Lawrence and Seed for knitwear.

“Morrison does layering beautifully and for a great leather jacket, Sambag’s is buttery soft and the perfect modern biker shape.”
