Paspaley Polo In The City is on – for last minute tips check out our chat with Westfield stylist Leticia Del Arco
We asked Leticia Del Arco for last minute tips to get the inside scope on the latest trends.
What are your top tips for dressing for polo day?
Brave a bold lip. Nars carry a fantastic range of bright colours that wear beautifully for a long day out, available at Mecca Maxima. Also, don’t leave the house without a good pair of sunglasses. My pick is a classic pair of Ray Ban wayfarers from Sunglass Hut. Keep your outfit choice stylish and elegant, but most of all wear a smile and enjoy yourself!
What trends will we be seeing at the polo field this year?
For the ladies I think we will start to see some more embellishment on the field along with tailored shorts, cropped-tops and structured pieces teamed back with more floaty items. Flower crowns will be the head wear of choice. For the men, I’m hoping to see some bright chinos and loafers.
What are the rules when it comes to ladies wearing pants to the polo?
There is such an array of fabulous wide leg pants around this season, I would encourage women to try these for their polo look. For a more classic pair, try the Sass & Bide styles available in Myer but if you’re feeling brave Sheike and Dissh have some amazing floral styles that will look perfect set against a polo backdrop!
What are your tips for picking the right jewellery?
If you’re working to a budget accessories can breathe new life into an old favourite. Look for both bold statement pieces and less glamorous evening pieces. Adorne have an amazing range of bold styles that are a great way to add a pop of colour to any outfit.
What’s the biggest mistake ladies make when putting their polo outfits together?
Headgear is very acceptable for a day at the polo but under no circumstances should you wear a fascinator. Opt for a hat, head scarf or a fun headpiece.
What are your tips for picking the right pair of shoes for the polo?
Where possible I would suggest that ladies go for a thicker heel, wedges or a glam pair of flat sandals. Zu currently have an amazing range of chunky Windsor Smith wedges perfect for any outfit. Remember there will be divot stomping at half time, Pretty Woman style!, so wear appropriate shoes.
What style of bag is appropriate for the polo?
I think a bag is dependent on the outfit, my personal style advice would be to opt for a clutch as long as you can carry the necessities and can store your sunglasses safely if you continue on to post-festivities.
Paspaley Polo In The City is on Saturday 23 November at Doomben Racecourse.
Will you be heading to the polo on Saturday and have you got an outfit planned?
