Westfield Insider Alyce Cowell made a flying fashion visit to Brisbane and Laura Brodnik style-stalked her to see this season’s trends.

In the words of The Devil Wears Prada’s Miranda Priestly, Alyce Cowell has the job “a million girls would kill for”.

As the Westfield Insider Alyce has the task of shopping the latest fashions in Westfield stores and keeping shoppers up-to-date on her current style crushes. If would be easy to hate her for her enviable job, but since she’s taken us into her world and provided us with an easy to follow guide on the latest trends, we’ll let it slide. I spent an afternoon shopping with the Melbourne based fashion maven at Westfield Chermside, taking note of her insider style tips, how she puts together this season’s key looks and how to make your wardrobe go further by wearing the same piece three ways.

This seasons top tends: Monochrome and Floral

How to rock the monochrome look: Monochrome is the biggest colour palette of spring/summer, which is great because it’s everyone’s favourite! It’s easy to wear and totally timeless. The best part of this look is anything goes; choose one printed piece and wear with singular black or white, experiment with print clashing or go for block monochrome look. All of your favourite stores are doing monochrome, so you can still get the look while keeping cool in the heat. I love these pieces because I see monochrome as being effortlessly edgy, and this outfit fits the bill perfectly!

Feel fantastic in floral: Floral is back for yet another season! We never truly say goodbye to it because it works in all weather and on all body shapes. This season floral has been given a modern spin with graphic and edgy prints but one thing always remains the same – the ladylike shapes and feel! Deck out your work and party season wardrobes with florals to flatter your shape and give yourself a girly makeover – it suits everyone and you’ll get more for your money as it never goes out of style. This skirt in particular is my favourite – I got loads of compliments while wearing it, it’s such a great fit and it’s feminine while still being modern.
