The Redlands’ retro rockabilly revival is coming of age.

Over 10,000 revellers are expected to rock and roll into Cleveland Showgrounds in August for a full-tilt weekend of ‘Kustom Kulture’.

Event organiser Lori Lee Cash says the festival will celebrate its 18th birthday with a packed program of entertainment, including international rockabilly acts, hepcat DJs, jive dancing, hot rods, lowrider cycles, classic bikes, pin-up parades, art displays and competitions, tiki carving, market stalls, food trucks and more.

“We are very excited to be hosting the 18th anniversary of GreazeFest at our new home at Cleveland Showgrounds,” Cash says.

“It will be a joy to celebrate with our Kustom Kulture community, many of whom have been with us since the very beginning, as well as with those who have recently discovered the delights of the rockabilly lifestyle.”

Rockers Pike Cavalero from Spain and Eddie Gazel from France will headline the live music line-up, along with Australian acts Rusty Pinto, Benny and The Flybyniters, The Detonators, The Lincolns and more.

Tne event will also feature a huge hot rod display brimming with more than 500 classic vehicles, from the 1920s to the 1970s, all vying for a prized GreazeFest trophy.

For lovers of vintage style, the GreazeFest Pinup Parades will pay tribute to the glamour icons of the 1940s and ’50s. Patrons wanting to get the rockabilly look will be able have their hair styled by experts, and pinup fans will have a chance to meet US model Sabina Kelley, known for her countless magazine covers, calendars, music videos, and appearances as a judge on the TV show Best Ink.

The GreazeFest RSPCA Album Cover Art Challenge will see 20 international and Australian artists hand-painting a record cover, with the public voting for their favourite piece by donating a coin. All proceeds will be donated to the RSPCA.

Other art activities at the festival will include specialised workshops, live painting, pinstriping, tiki statue carving, and the kustom kulture art exhibition, with guest artists including Von Hot Rod (USA), Cathy ‘Artgirlcathy’ Mejica (USA), Krazy Dotty (Japan), Cherry Dollface (USA) and Tiki Dylan (Australia).

There’ll also be 120 specialist market stalls to burn a hole in your pocket with all sorts of vintage clothing, records, model cars and more.

GreazeFest will be held at the Cleveland Showgrounds (on the corner of Smith and Long Streets, Cleveland) from Friday 4 August to Sunday 6 August. For more info, visit our event guide.
