Southsiders no longer have to travel far for their Audi fix thanks to the opening of a new Audi Centre in Springwood.
Tania Meli, general manager of Audi Centre Springwood, says that southern Brisbane and Logan are very promising luxury car markets.
“This region is crying out for an Audi dealership,” she says. “We’ve been keen to open in the area for some years and we’re very confident that ‘if we build it, they will come’.
“It’s a huge service area in which customers have had to travel either to the Gold Coast or Brisbane CBD to buy or service an Audi.
“Now they have the convenience of an Audi centre in Springwood.”
The growth is fuelled by Audi’s positive sales performance in Queensland.
“Audi was up 19 per cent for the year compared to other premium vehicles that had risen 11 per cent on average,” says Meli.
While the centre is currently in a temporary showroom on the Pacific Highway, there are plans to move into a purpose-built facility by the end of next year, adds Meli.
“Our temporary location will get us started, but by the end of 2015 we will be in a much larger and more impressive site down the road,” she says.
The planned dealership will include a used and new sales hub as well as a major service centre, providing over 70 new jobs for the region.
To celebrate the opening of the new centre, Audi Centre Springwood is hosting a community open day on Saturday 22 November from 9am to 12pm, with special guests Gorden Tallis and V8 Supercar driver Russell Ingall. Logan Mayor Pam Parker will also be in attendance from 9am to 9.45am.
Beenleigh PCYC will be running a barbecue and there will be face painters and a balloon artist for the kids, so head down for a day of family fun and luxury cars.
Meli says the Frizelle Automotive Group hopes to create a similar relationship with Logan and Brisbane’s south-side communities as the Gold Coast centre has with their clients.
“Our long-standing successful Audi Centre Gold Coast remains the benchmark and we hope to emulate its success in the new location and encourage customers to come and meet the team,” she says.
