For a sportier look or to add a bit of style, the Volkswagen R-Line is calling your name.
Volkswagen is offering buyers a chance to add sporty pizazz to some of its most popular models with the introduction of an optional specification called R-Line.
Comprising a variety of features, but generally including paddle gearshifters, sports suspension and interior and exterior styling extras, R-Line is available to upgrade Golf hatchback and wagon, Beetle and all but the top version of a revised Tiguan SUV range, which has been released simultaneously.
The range-topping Tiguan 155TSI now comes standard an as R-Line as does the king of the big Touareg SUVs, the 4.2 V8 TDI. Both cars replace conventional sports suspension with electrically-adjustable shock absorbers for greater ability in different highway and off-road driving conditions.
The R-Line packages, priced between $2000 and $2500, give the Golf, Beetle and Tiguan sportier feel and style. The standard cars are excellent, but many buyers want the chance to add a little difference.
Prices for the new Tiguan range have been increased and now start from $28,990 for the two-wheel drive 118TSI. The 130TDI is a new variant, replacing the much less powerful 103TDI but costing $1100 more at $39,990 recommended retail.
The Tiguan-with-the-lot, the 155TSI R-Line, is priced at $44,990.
