A unique new furniture store has opened up in Underwood, offering recycled hardwood furniture made from reclaimed timber from old bridges, railways, houses and boats.

Located on Logan Road, Ashanti Furniture & Design Brisbane is a small family-run business passionate about providing quality recycled timber and woven furniture, carved and modern home decor.

The company originate on the Gold Coast, now trading 10 year and has expanded to Underwood.

Joerg Rockstroh, co-owner of Ashanti Furniture & Design in Underwood, says the company sources recycled materials from all over the world including Java, India and China.

“The old wood is then transformed into stunning modern furniture.”

Joerg says there are many important reasons why people should buy sustainable, recycled furniture.

“Buying sustainable recycled furniture will help to reduce the impact of our society on the environment, reduce waste and help preserve remaining rainforests,” he says.

“The earth has only limited resources, buying sustainable recycled furniture ensures resources are used to the fullest and everything is in balance.”

“Come into our store, if you see a piece of furniture you want and it’s too big, too small, you want a different fabric or weave, we can customise to your needs,” he says.

“We do not charge any extras for this service.”

Ashanti Furniture & Design at Underwood is also home to an organic espresso bar, serving great organic coffee.

“Sit down with us, have an organic coffee and discuss your options,” Joerg says.
