They say there’s an app for everything… here’s our top five to help you out around the home, from keeping organised to renovations!
1. Houzz Interior Design Ideas (free)
CNN called this app the “Wikipedia of interior and exterior design” – with the largest database of home design ideas and over 1.5 million high resolution photos, they might just be right. The virtual equivalent of scrapbooking design ideas, you can browse photos by style, room and location and save them to your ideabook, making looks easier to search, save and share. Available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
2. My Measures & Dimensions ($2.99)
We’ve all been there – in the furniture store examining a new wardrobe, desk or cabinet, desperately pawing through handbag or pockets searching for that scrap of paper with the dimensions of the space where the new item is supposed to go. This app will stop that ever happening again – simply take a picture, add arrows, angles, text and notes and you’re good to go. As they say, a picture’s worth a thousand squiggly and confusing pencil diagrams. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
3. Home Design 3D (free or $7.49 for full version)
Visualising a new home or renovations has never been easier. The Home Design 3D app allows you to draw rooms, create openings, change height and thickness of walls, view layout with different day and night lighting, and then drag and drop hundreds of items to help you visualise changes to the interior and exterior of your home before you lift a finger. You can even import plans (architectural or hand-drawn) and display in the background of the project. Available on iPhone and iPad.
4. Remodelista (free or $2.99 for full version)
Already a successful design website, the Remodelista App makes it easy to browse inspiring architecture, DIY project ideas, product roudups from the editorial team and Steal This Look, featuring stylish interiors from celebrities and personalities.
5. Any.DO (free)
With a clean and simple design, Any.DO is the personal organiser you wish you always had. Not only can you keep a list of all your To Do’s in one place, you can also set a time or location based reminder and share lists with friends, family and colleagues to make everyone more organised. With Christmas coming up, Any.DO is an app you’ll want onside.
