The wedding’s done and now all you need to think about is relaxing as a newlywed couple – here are our top five destinations for honeymooning in 2014!

All done with the wedding planning? Everything in order for your big day? Now all there’s left to organise is where you’ll go to relax after the excitement of the nuptials! Here’s our pick of the top five honeymoon destinations in 2014…

1. St Lucia (Caribbean)

Make like Jack Sparrow and sail away to the Caribbean. While rum punch, white sand and stunning scenery are par of the course on any Caribbean island, St Lucia’s lush forests, Piton mountains and adventure activities set it above the rest. Climb mountains, dive, snorkel (or do both in the island’s unique scuba-snorkel hybrid, Snuba) or catch a zipline – anything to feel the adrenaline rush for the first time together as a married couple!

2. California, USA

With beaches, big surf, towering redwoods and outstanding restaurants, why wouldn’t you want to head to California? From Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge to Disneyland, California is larger than life and caters for many different interests.

3. Brazil (South America)

The country is exploding with excitement for the soccer World Cup landing in 2014,¬†and if anyone knows how to party, it’s the Brazilians. Head to Rio for samba in the city, or dodge the crowds by going to more remote places like the area around Paraty (midway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo) for untouched beaches and pristine coastline.

4. Marrakech, Morocco

Lonely Planet calls Marrakech “hands-down one of the most romantic cities on earth”, so where better to take a honeymoon? The air is scented with rose petals and Arabian spices as you wander through the lantern-lit medina, enjoy mint tea, and bargain in the souqs – escape to another world in Marrakech for a truly memorable trip!

5. Australia

With so many incredible destinations in our own country, why not steer closer to home for your honeymoon? North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef offer tropical paradise; hiking and wilderness enthusiasts should head to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania for other-worldly alpine countryside and cosy fireplace cuddling; while Western Australia offers the Margaret River wine region and the Kimberley – beautiful gorges and rock pools will be certain to have you feeling tranquil and relaxed after the craziness of the wedding.
