Just think of it as Ratatouille in real life.

San Francisco tourist attraction The San Francisco Dungeon — which bills its live shows as “an exciting mix of live action, special effects, 360 degree sets and authentic storytelling” — has taken the cute animal café trend to the next level by announcing a rat café.

The immersive, pop-up experience includes all-you-can-drink coffee and, of course, the chance to interact with the friendly rats.

That’s right — guests will sip their coffee while seated at bistro-style tables, surrounded by rats.

The Mercury News reports that the rats will be supplied by Rattie Ratz, a non-profit organisation that rescues and rehabilitates rats. They also put rats up for adoption, so if you really bond with one of the little furballs, you’ll be able to re-create the experience at home.

The experience will set you back US$50; only two dates have been announced so far.

If you happen to be in the San Francisco area on Saturday 1 July and Saturday 8 July, you can buy tickets to The San Francisco Dungeon’s Rat Café at sanfrancisco.thedungeons.com.
