Spend your holidays at the Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy and get a little taste of magic.

A quick detour from everyday life is sometimes just what we need and the Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy (PMSA) in Manila offers just that.

This special travel location is where you can take up the art of mermaiding and swim a mile in Ariel’s tail.

Although mermaiding has been around for years in the past courses and classes offered have been limited to mermaid swimming workshops geared towards professional performers and entertainers. PMSA is the first in the Philippines and in the world to introduce a school concept for mermaid swimming. The school offers instructional courses and classes, making mermaiding accessible to everyone.  The programs are structured in a safe and fun environment and are designed to cater to all age groups and genders.

It’s also a  great activity for kids and parents can be confident that their little mermaids and merboys are in the safe hands and under the close supervision of professional instructors. A unique adventure in itself, mermaiding is a great social activity that brings people from various walks of life together regardless of age, gender and race, through a shared fondness for mermaids.

It’s also perfect for those simply looking for a new and whimsical way to enjoy the waters while honing their swimming skills and getting a good workout while they’re at it.

During the classes one wears a mermaid tail, which is a stretch fabric that goes up to the waist, and has a monofin attached at the end. When mermaiding, one swims like a fish using both legs as a fish tail and using their core muscles to propel them forward, with variations to the hand placement and movements.

Classes are not held in an actual classroom, but rather, are conducted in natural bodies of water such as oceans, rivers and lakes, or in more controlled environments such as hotel and resort swimming pools.
