Only 75 minutes from Brisbane, an Island getaway is calling your name! Tangalooma is a resort township on the west side of Moreton Island in Queensland with plenty of family friendly activities to guarantee the dreaded ‘I’m bored’ will not be heard.

Getting to Tangalooma is easy! The ferry operates from Holt Street Whary in Pinkenba, Brisbane to Tangalooma jetty three times a day in each direction.

The island provides free sport equipment to play tennis, soccer, squash, archery, croquet, beach volleyball, cricket and golf putting.

If you’re interested in taking it slow, the island also offers free educational eco walks including, bird spotting, night spotlight walks, bush tucker walks and marine beach walks.

Let the kids tire themselves out by running up and tobogganing down the massive sand dunes or swimming at the beach, while you think of what songs you want to sing at the karaoke night! The resort also hosts trivia, bingo and movie nights along with the Tangalooma horse racing cup every week, where you can get involved and dress like a jockey!

The Tangalooma wreck can be seen from the beach, with kayaking tours allowing you to see them up close. Other facilities on offer include parasailing, quad bikes, helicopter joy flights and scuba and snorkeling gear hire.

And the highlight of any visit to Tangalooma would have to be the amazing opportunity to hand feed wild dolphins! Eight dolphins with their own unique personalities visit the island regularly, with Moreton Bay being home to approximately 600 bottlenose dolphins. Get in on the fun and prepared to get wet as you feed the dolphins, you can even get a photo to mark the occasion!
