Beat the heat this Wednesday – check out our suggestions for where to hide from the heat and how to escape it at home!

With temperatures expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius this Wednesday, Christmas is sure to be sweltering – as usual for Brisbane!

But you don’t have to suffer; head to our chill spots this Christmas to keep cool, calm and collected.

1. The beach

The typical Aussie favourite, heading to the beach on Christmas is a great way to enjoy our beautiful weather but still keep cool. Head away from popular spots that will be packed and go to less well-known areas like Coolum, Kingscliff and Caloundra. Don’t forget to pack the sunscreen and some shade – a beach umbrella or shelter will be much appreciated under the blazing sun!

2. South Bank Parklands

With heaps of room for picnics and plenty of water at the South Bank beach to cool down in, South Bank is close to home, easy to reach and fun for the whole family. Bring your Christmas spread, sit under the trees and watch the river sparkle in the sunshine.

3. Chill out at home

Pump up the air con and blast the fans – cool off your home and you won’t feel the unpleasantness of Christmas Day heat. If you don’t have a pool, set up a slip’n’slide, kiddy pool or sprinkler to help everyone cool off between lunch and dessert.
