Mmm, maybe it’s time you motored north and did the ‘M’ tour visiting the popular tourist villages in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland just over an hour’s drive from Brisbane.

About 75 minutes from Brisbane lies the three Ms – Maleny, Montville and Mapleton and there are plenty of ‘Mmm’ moments along the drive as the breathtaking scenery of the Sunshine Coast hinterland rises and falls around you.

On your journey, stop and appreciate some of the highlights including Mary Cairncross Park on the way to Maleny. It offers two great views of the Glass House Mountains. Near Montville is Kondalilla Falls and keep a look out for the big goannas in the park and we mean big!

Maleny and Montville are tourist villages with gift shops for browsing, lunch spots with views and coffee stops to take in the atmosphere.

Mapleton includes the Lilyponds – a former swamp that underwent an expensive makeover and is now a community park. The Mapleton Markets are held four times a year in March, June, September and December, there’s the Mapleton Falls National Park, the Mapleton Tavern and historic Seaview House with panoramic views.

The biggest problem is choosing where to stop. If you feel like some exercise, call in to Palmwoods’ Strawberry Fields on your way to Mapleton and pick your own to take home. Take a Maleny Dairies tour and see the Guernsey girls milked or go wine tasting at Flame Hill Winery, with beautiful views over the hills of Montville. Design your own day!
