Thinking about popping the question, but you’re not sure where to do it? We’ve put together a list of some of Brisbane’s best engagement spots – for that perfect proposal.

Proposing to your partner is a big deal, so it’s understandable that you want it to be perfect! To give you a push in the right direction, we’ve hunted down Brisbane’s best engagement spots and got some expert advice from White Lily Couture’s Style Director and wedding expert, Alera Kingham.

Mount Coot-tha

Sweeten up your proposal by taking your future fiancé on a scenic tour of Mount Coot-tha, a name that stems from the indigenous term for ‘honey’.

From mountain drives and exhilarating bike trails, to waterfalls and botanical gardens, the highest peak in Brisbane offers more than a typical wine-and-dine engagement experience.

But of course, if wining and dining is what you’re looking for, the lookout has restaurants, cafes and grassy spots to enjoy.

Alera’s advice: Pack a picnic dinner and blanket and sit out on the grassy lookout, soaking in the city views together. Top off the evening with an ice-cream and you’ve got yourself the perfect date night!

The Golden Gondola

Experience the romance of Venice whilst cruising along the Brisbane River in a luxuriously designed gondola. With sheep-skin covered seats and a soundproof panel separating passenger from gondolier, the old-world charm is sure to kindle the romance.

Alera’s advice: Book a private evening dinner cruise and enjoy a candlelit dinner. The seclusion of the gondola will allow you to enjoy some quality time with your partner, and you never know you may just leave with a ring on your finger!

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who is looking for an adrenalin rush before getting down on one knee.

Rock climb to the top of this misshapen volcanic tuff, abseil over the front cliff, or if you’re after a little less adventure try a sunset stroll along the river’s east bank. No matter what you’re in the mood for, there’s no escaping the spectacular city views surrounding you.

Alera’s advice: Go for an afternoon stroll together along the river and climb the stairs to the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs for sunset – it without a doubt offers one of the most beautiful sunset views in Brisbane, and is the perfect spot to woo your fiancé-to-be.

Stamford Plaza

Luxury is the name of the game at this popular proposal spot. Having previously accommodated a number of celebs, royalty and heads of state, the Stamford Suite will take your breath away.

Furnished with opulent artwork and a baby grand piano, the suite offers panoramic views of Brisbane’s city that will have you talking about this moment for years to come.

Alera’s advice: Arrange for dinner to be served in your room, and enjoy a private sunset dining experience with just you and your loved one. It doesn’t get much more romantic than that!

City Botanic Gardens

Proposing in the lush surrounds of Brisbane’s botanical gardens is ornamental ponds, sculptures and one of Brisbane’s most scenic outdoor concert venues, Brisbane’s original botanic gardens appeals to everyone.

Alera’s advice: Pack some nibbles and a bottle of bubbly for a river-front picnic, or surprise your significant other with concert tickets for their favourite artist. Either way, you’re guaranteed to tug those heart strings!
