Domestic goddess Nigella Lawson will join a line-up of chefs, wine and food personalities for the fifth annual Margaret River Gourmet Escape festival in Western Australia.

Lawson, a household name and international television star, will share her zest for cooking and eating with Margaret River Gourmet Escape audiences through Q&A discussions and book signings.

“I’m so glad to be returning to Australia and especially to be a part of this food-rich country that I haven’t visited before,” she says.

“I can’t wait!”

The popular author and broadcaster will be joined by over 40 of the world’s leading food and wine personalities, including a selection of chefs from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Four of these chefs — Joan Roca (El Celler de Can Roca, Spain); Mauro Colagreco (Mirazur, France); Andoni Luis Aduriz (Mugaritz, Spain); and Isaac McHale (The Clove Club, UK) — will be making their Margaret River Gourmet Escape debut.

Other highly acclaimed chefs attending the festival from around the world include Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn & Petit Crenn, USA), who was recently named the World’s Best Female Chef by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants poll, as well as celebrity chef and restaurateur Rick Stein; Ashley Palmer-Watts (Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, UK & Melbourne); David Thompson (Nahm, Thailand and Long Chim, Singapore & Perth); Ana Roš (Hisa Franko, Slovenia) and Janice Wong (2am Dessert Bar, Singapore).

Two thirds of the Australian contingent will also be new to the festival, including Analiese Gregory (Bar Brosé, Sydney); Mitch Orr (ACME and Bar Brosé, Sydney); Mike McEnearney (No. 1 Bent St, Sydney); Andrew McConnell (Cutler & Co, Melbourne); Lennox Hastie (Firedoor, Sydney); and Ross Lusted (The Bridge Room, Sydney).

They’ll be joined by some of the best local chefs in Western Australia, including Aaron Carr (Vasse Felix); Seth James (Wills Domain); Colin Anderson (Cullen Wines); and Giovanni Di Serio (Asado).

A selection of the festival’s signature events will return, including the famous Audi Gourmet Beach BBQs, the Gourmet Village, Feast in the Forest, and Margaret River’s Secret Garden, as well as showcase dinners, intimate master classes, and demonstrations from this year’s line-up.
